Check out my interview on Hillz 98.6 FM on 16th February in Coventry, much respect to Mandy, Williams Brothers and everyone at Hillz FM and who came down to Valentine's Love party at Clique Bar
It was a great experience coming to Coventry on 16th February and walking around the city the following day. At first we went to the Hillz 98.6 fm to the Williams Brothers show, on my way to the hotel as it got dark I was astonished to see the figures of an Angel coquering the Demon on the wall of the St Michael Cathedral. It was quiete and myserious on the territory of the old, the new Coventry Cathedral buildings and the ruins as suddenly someone started playing organ and sound of it were resonating through the walls. The Cathedral was closed as it was evening and it was not a mass time, so I couldn't go in and see who was playing, so I just remember the empty space of the Cathedral terriotory, the Coventry University behind me and the lone sounds of the massive organ. Later I performed at the Valentine's Love party at the Clique Bar, which was a great night with djs from Hillz fm playing their fine selection of tunes. Singer Mackson also performed a few r&b tunes. The following day I was just walking around Coventry took some pics. I have always been fascinated with Gothic architecture... Here are some pics, more pics from the event coming
Check out my new love tune "Always Be There" (Faithful Riddim, the song is written and vocals mixed by Jahna Sebastian)
I decided to go back to my reggae roots for a minute, just like back in the day when I was in Russia in a band called "Muzungu" (we released an album "Leave It Up" there) and then I had my reggae/hip hop band "Jah Soldiers"in 2005-2006 before I moved to London. My first performance as an artist with my own lyrics was on Bob Marley festival in Moscow in 2005 with "Muzungu". I am also working on a remix of "Always Be There"
download the tune free from here:
I am working on my EP which will included "Emancipation II" and have the sound of dubstep. drum&bass and just all sorts of bass music :) Also I working on a reggae mixtape stay tuned and come an party with me at Clique Bar in Coventry at Hillz FM "Valentines Love" party:
Whitney Houston had a voice out of this world, she had a tremendous talent and her music is timeless. She inspired me in so many ways, the power and emotion of her voice have influenced me as a singer so much. I have been singing her songs most of my life, nearly every day, got me through auditions, singing with my friend Ksusha at Russian Music Academy, in Yarl's Wood detention centre when I would go into the prayer room and playing piano and singing her songs would keep me feel alive and free my spirit while being physically locked up. Her songs have been the soundtrack to so many moments in my life, this is too emotional for me. I feel so sad. She will live forever in my heart and hearts of many future generations.
In 2011 I have worked on 59 tracks (whether recorded/produced/written or performed or all of that at the same time) out of which there was one whole album recorded in my studio - Oxxxymiron's "Vechniy Jid" and one mixtape recorded and mixed - Markul's "Vzveshenniy Rap" which were released also this year, my "Fame Money Game" music video; did 3 short films and one feature film, half a dozen commercials and ads for various companies like Samsung and Vodaphone, started doing live shows again including one in Birmingham and learned a lot more about music and filmmaking. Looking forward to 2012! Happy New Year!
This remix is a result of Jahna Sebastian and Markul vibing in the studio using acapella from his tune "Stratford" from his new mixtape "Vzveshenniy Rap". Jahna decided to finish it up and here is the remix + instrumental that is available to download for free, but if you want to use it email whatever you record to multivizionmusic@hotmail.com
Mixing a song is a separate process and needs detailed attention and individual approach to every track even if working on the same album by the same artist. To get a good mix can take from about 4-5 hours for just vocals to 8-10 hours for a full mix of all the instruments and vocals. It is a mistake to think that mixing is only about getting the volumes right and slapping some compression/eq, there is a lot more to it. Editing audio, especially vocals correcting timing and sometimes pitch (especially when rappers sing themselves in the chorus without being trained in singing, if edited right still can get great sounding results and catchy choruses), effects processing and automation of everything from volumes to parameters on eqs, modulation, reverb, delay if needed, interesting effects on particular words and sounds takes time. It is worth to break the mixing time into a few sections and go and do something else to let the ears rest and reset. Also it is always best to leave the mix almost finished for the night, go to sleep and listen to it again in the morning fresh and tweak anything that needs it for the final mix then. You might wake up, listen to it again and hear nuances that escaped your attention after long hours in the studio the day before. Unless in urgency it is not advised to mix the song straight after recording if done by the same engineer, for many reasons it's best to leave mixing for the next day for fresh approach. There is no such thing as "15 minute final mix", within that time you can only take home from a studio a rough demo mix for reference, not a %100 final product at best it can possibly sound. From when I started engineering in 2007 to now the time I take to mix has only increased as I have learned to take a lot of details into account which is needed for professional mix.
Den Bro is a Russian rapper based in London, who was a part of rap group Tribe together with Markul and Chiff. He was one of the first artists to record at Multivizion Music from back in 2007. His new mixtape is out now recorded at Skyline studio and two tracks from the mixtape have been recorded and mixed by Jahna Sebastian at Multivizion Music in Croydon, one of them has been previously released with a music video:
"Vse Blije" feat. Markul
and another one is "Vechniy Son" also featuring Markul
Den Bro has also recorded first collaboration track with rapper Oxxxymiron at Multivizion Music studio in spring 2008. Around that time the Russian Hip Hop movement among Russian speaking immigrants started to consolidate in London, artists started to work together, live shows and parties started to happen, Greenpark TV launched in 2011. Multivizion Music has been in the centre of this development with many artists recording in the studio. Rapper Oxxxymiron has since recorded many tracks at Multivizion Music including his album "Vechniy Jid" (2011) Den Bro, Oxxxymiron, Markul and many others represent Russian Hip Hop movement in London.
